Typical tastings last for 90 minutes. A tasting includes a curated flight of our current release wines, with guided education about our vineyards and winemaking. In the winery, we also include complimentary light bites that will enhance the wines.

Oregon shines best from May-September with plentiful sunshine, low humidity, cool nights.

Our tasting room is in the Violet Vines winery barrel room in McMinnville, Oregon, within the Indie Wine District. Seasonally, we offer wine tastings at the vineyard’s Tasting Outlook in Sheridan, Oregon with advanced notice.

Q: What are your tasting room hours, and do I need a reservation?

Walk-ins are welcome on Saturdays at the winery from 12–5pm as well as reservations. (please check our website for occasional closures). Reservations are required on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Advanced reservations for visiting the estate vineyard in Sheridan are always required.

Q: Is your tasting room wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our barrel room tasting room is fully accessible. Please let us know if you need any special accommodations, we’re happy to assist.

Yes, our barrel room is available for private events. Please contact us to discuss your group’s needs.

The Tasting Experience in the Winery Barrel Room Our McMinnville wine tasting experiences are engaging, unpretentious, and often with the owners themselves. Easy online reservations - modify at any time.

Stop in for a tasting flight, glass or bottle purchases at our winery in the quickly growing Indie Wine District just outside of downtown McMinnville. Our tasting experience is located in the industrial-chic chill of the barrel room where you will also have the opportunity to sample something special from our current barrels. Please dress accordingly for cellar temperature. Blankets will also be provided.

To accompany your flight we offer complimentary light charcuterie. For alcohol-free options we are pleased to offer our exclusive Violet Vines estate grape juice for purchase. This is a unique opportunity to try our estate grapes before they become wine and features a rotating 8 oz selection of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay or Syrah juice served in a stemmed wine glass. We also offer our newly released Alcohol-Removed Estate Syrah. One of the first of its kind in the Willamette Valley!

Cost

Enjoy a curated selection of Violet Vines wines in a tasting flight for $30. One tasting fee is waived with a three-bottle purchase or upon joining the Violet Vines wine club.

The Tasting Outlook at the Vineyard Enjoy an exclusive guided tasting experience seasonally at our estate vineyard in the foothills of the McMinnville AVA.

High on a hillside and nestled between two of the vineyard blocks you will find the Tasting Outlook. Sip wine and enjoy the serene silence of nature as you overlook the Willamette Valley and the Cascade mountains or walk among the vines for a close-up look at the vineyard. Available June-September weather permitting.

How long does a wine tasting take and what’s included?

What should I wear to a tasting room in wine country?

Oregon’s style is laid-back and casual in general. Think west coast chic outfits. Dressing in layers is highly recommended as the temperature shifts quite dramatically from the early cool mornings to the warm afternoons. If you are tasting in a barrel room like Violet Vines, the indoor cellar temperature is usually 57 degrees so dress a bit warmer or bring a light jacket. Blankets are also typically provided and are available in the Violet Vines tasting room.
